NORTH MYRTLE BEACH | Sandra S. White, 71, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Born on December 19, 1938 in Gastonia, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Grafton and Edith Anders Spargo.She is predeceased by one son, Fred Murphy.

Mrs. White is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kenneth White of North Myrtle Beach; two sons, John A. Murphy of Conway, Greg Murphy of Garden City, one daughter Amy Barker of Hixson, Tenn. and seven grandchildren.

Services will be private with the family.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Sandra Spargo White, 71, formerly of Gastonia, NC, passed away on December 20, 2009 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Sandra was born on December 19, 1938 in Gastonia, NC. She was the daughter of the late Grafton William Spargo and Edith Anders Spargo. Sandra graduated from Frank L. Ashley High School in Gastonia, NC and attended Brevard College and Stone Modeling School. She was a former debutante. Sandra was a cancer survivor and often spoke to students about the negative effect smoking had on her life.

She served as past Treasurer of the New Voices Club in Charlotte, NC and was a member of the International Association of Larngectomees. Rauch Industries formerly employed her for 16 years as an Insurance and Payroll Clerk. She had been an active member of the Myrtle Beach Worship Center, formerly Spirit Life Worship Center, and attended Beth Moore Bible Studies with her Bible Study Group from Spirit Life Worship Center in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Sandra is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kenneth Brian White; sons and daughter-in-law, John A. Murphy and Cynthia F. Murphy of Conway, SC; William G. Murphy and Michele Coffey of Surfside, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Amy Murphy Barker and Scott Barker of Hixson, TN; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Kim and Ken Caldwell of Charlotte, NC; stepson, David White of White Stone, SC; grandsons, Craig Barker and Kearney Murchada Murphy; granddaughters, Justin and Blair Barker and Sandra Edie-Lee "Bitty" Murphy; step grandsons, Kevin and Kyle Caldwell; several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

In addition to Sandra's parents, her loving son Fredric Allen Murphy and dear sister and friend, Ann Price, preceded her in death.

Sandra will be remembered for her generous spirit and willingness to help a friend in need. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend; wonderful cook, poet, and artist.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Myrtle Beach Christian Retreat Chapel. Reverend Henry Brock officiated the service.
