Comments:

Was a stay at home Mom for many years and all that entails. My children were very involved in lots of activities. i was amember of a garden club, bridge club, a junior womens club. My deceased husband was transfered a lot by the company he worked for, so We got to live in different states and got to know a lot of people. I began a catering career at the age of 49. Was food service director at First Baptist church of Asheville with a staff to manage and many meals and events to plan for the next 19 years. It was very much a challenge, but lots of fun. Sorry that I had to miss the 60th reunion. The picture that I posted is of my great grandchild and of course, myself.

School Story:

All I can remember is typical high school stuff, classes, homework, friends, boys, taking about boys. Chorus class was one of my favorite. Oh the trips we took.now I am wondering, how did we get this old? One grand told me that I had to live to be 100. Okay so how many of us will make it.

Happy Birthday David. Big 80, quite a milestone, but I beat you to it. September was the month that I became 80 years young, who would have thought it years ago when we were students at Frank L Ashley. I hope that you have been celebrating all day. Now on to 90. Okay.

Thanks for your thoughtful response and know that everyone wishes you only the best. Also, what a beautiful great grandchild. It seems that our "eligible" grandchildren are putting off the child raising business - although our oldest grandson (29) and his wife have returned from their service in the Peace Corps - and are expecting in about six months. The reunion was "semi-sweet" - some think it will be our last, but I'm not sure about that. Some said it was the best ever - and that's true in an emotional sense, but it was too short for me - but then although I got to meet and greet almost everyone there, I was so busy with the organizing, I didn't get to spend much time with anyone. The great thing about this website is that it is a good substitute for that because I am able to converse and interact with everyone that has signed on. Best wishes to you in the future.

From all the pictures that have been posted, it looks like all former classmates had an awesome time. Except for the weather of course. Wish I could have been there but now cannot venture too far away from Asheville. My husband has a hard time getting around and also has memory problems. He just feels more secure at home and I can no longer leave him for long periods of time. Since he will be 89 years old in August, I am lucky to still have him. I do have a precious great grandchild now, so decided to post a picture of us on my profile page. Thanks so very much for all you do to keep us informed of all the happenings. Stay well David.

Thanks David for the Happy Birthday wishes. It's been quite a day with lots of well wishes from family and friends---old and new. I did not know that you once lived in Asheville, so you do know how special this city is with it four seasons. Right now the leaves are beginning to change, while summer flowers are still lovely. And I always over do planting them as well as lots of potted plants.
You have had a lot of health issues to deal with over the years, but you seem to handle them okay. Up until two years ago, I had no health problems but since then I have persistent irregular heartbeat., which means medicine for the rest of my life. Hopefully we will both have many good years left. And that goes for the rest of our classmates. Thanks again for your kind thoughts. Gaynell

Glad you have joined our class web site Bobby I enjoy keeping up with our classmates activities, but saddened to hear when another one has passed on. Let's the rest of us stay around for a while. When I think soon 60 years, I say no way! I am happy to say that I live in Asheville and so appreciate the beauty of this area. Gaynell Spencer Cabe.

Very good picture David. We are not getting older, just better. Of course I do ponder from time to time, where did all those years go. I suppose keeping up with eight grandchildren helps keep me young. Recently my 10 year old granddaughter told me I was a cool grandma. I hope that you and Carol celebrated big time today--Happy Anniversary. Also thanks so very much for keeping this web site going. Gaynell

Hi David. I am so sorry that skin cancer has been such a presence in your life. You probably feel like saying oh no not again. Sounds like you are keeping your spirits up and enjoying life. We just do not know what issues we will have to deal with. Unfortunately mine is a fib, but am managing it with meds. Thanks so very much for all you do to keep us informed. May God bless you. Gayell
