ATLANTIC BEACH - Floyd Darrell Phillips, 75, passed away peacefully Oct. 5, 2012, at Forsythe Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was a native of Gaston County, born Nov. 22, 1936, to the late Hayden M. and Beulah Hill Phillips.
He was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald T. Phillips and his wife Faye C. Phillips; a nephew, Charles Stroupe Phillips.
Floyd was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a long time residence of Atlantic Beach, and he enjoyed life at the beach.
Survivors include his brothers, Jerry Phillips and wife Kazuko of Lompoc, Calif.; Jack Phillips and wife Elizabeth of Clemmons; nieces, Barbara Auten and husband Danny, Becky Gulledge and husband Curt and Tracey Peake and husband Jeff; nephew, Donnie Phillips; and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Park, Dogwood I section with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating and Military Rites by Gaston County Honor Guard.
