Dorothy Killian (Lee) VIEW PROFILE


GASTONIA - Dorothy "Dot" Killian Lee, 76, joined our heavenly Father peacefully on March 29, 2016 at her residence, where she had been surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Gaston County on May 23, 1939, to the late Grady Edward and Nell Smith Killian.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Jerry Doyle Lee and brother, Arnold Killian and sister, Fran Davis.

Dot was a loving mother and grandmother and friend to many and will be missed greatly! She was involved in many charities throughout her lifetime. She felt strongly about working in the community and giving back her time and efforts

throughout her life. Through the Martha Goebel ECA Club, she knitted toboggans for the Salvation Army and scarfs for Make-A-Difference Day. She sewed and stuffed pillows for the hospital and helped furnish the ECA Audio Library. Dot made walker caddies for local nursing homes and put together afghans for the Warm-Up America Project. At Unity Baptist Church, she sewed hundreds of dresses and shorts for the Hemmed In Prayer Missions Project. Dot also gave her time and money to Special Olympics Gaston County, Webb Street School and The Salvation Army: these causes were very close to her heart.

Dot's family was her pride and joy. She cherished her family more than anything. Survivors include her children. David Lee (Priscilla) of Myrtle Beach. SC; Karen Lee Rhyne (Ralph) of Gastonia; Jeff Lee (Jenni) of Gastonia and Dennis Lee (Selina) of Kings Mountain, NC; her special companion Joel Greene; grandchildren, Kelly, Michael, Josh, Jon, Jana, Pierce, and Bennett; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; sisters, Nancy Gibson and Carol Berry (Reggie) and brother-in-law, Gerald Davis.

Celebration of life service will be 6 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Unity Baptist Church,482 North Myrtle School Road, Gastonia, NC 28052 with Chaplain Greg Qualls officiating.

Visitation and Fellowship for family and friends will follow the service at 6:45 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Interment will be private.
