She was predeceased by : her parents, Guy Samuel Southard and Hattie Woodard Southard; her children, Wanda Rayfield and David Shaw; and her siblings, Jack, Jerry, David Southard and Guynell Rayfield.

She is survived by : her husband John Shaw; her children, Lea Ragsdale (Mike), John Shaw, Jr. (Maura DeSomma) and Rebecca Rudisill (Mark); her sister Joyce Gardner; her grandchildren, Jason Rayfield, Randy Frye (Kimberly), Krista Shaw, Aleisa Wright (Paul) and Christopher Rudisill; and her great grandchildren, Drew Rickle, Mattie Shaw, Kelsey, Abigail Wright, Reagan, Lucas, Colton Frye and Alexis Hudson.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 17th 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Greene Funeral Services - South Chapel (1503 S York Rd, Gastonia, NC 28052). A burial was held on Thursday, December 17th 2020 at 3:00 PM at the Gaston Memorial Park (1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054)
