Obituary




GASTONIA - Ann Norman Costner, 77, passed away peacefully on Jan. 19, 2017, at the Robin Johnson
House.

She was born in Gaston County on Feb. 26, 1939, to the late John and Jessie Montgomery Norman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Costner and her son,
Anthony Ross Monroe, sister, Ruth Wilhelm, brothers, James, Andy, Melvin and Gene Norman;
sisters-in-law, Betty, Willie, Pat and Gayle.

Ann was a loving kind-hearted woman who will be missed by her family and so many others that loved
her! She was a longtime member of Parkwood Baptist Church and worked at Winn- Dixie for over 25
years. Ann volunteered at Crisis Assistance Ministries.

Left to cherish her memories includes her daughters, Lisa O'Neill (John); Kim Robinson (Greg);
Molly Costner; grandchildren, Matthew Robinson, Hannah and Lillie O'Neill; brother, Eddie Norman
(Sissy) and sister-in-law, Sally Norman; numerous nieces and nephews including her niece Karen
Moffa who cared for her during radiation therapy.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 at Withers
and Whisenant Funeral Home.

Memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel
with the Rev. David Belle Isle officiating.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Robin Johnson for the care and compassion
extended to their family.
