
Johnnie Bell Frye Flanagan, 85, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 20, 2024 at Covenant Village. A native of Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late John Oates Bell and Ida Spencer Bell.
Johnnie retired as Payroll Manager from Public Service Company after 36 years of service and was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. Johnnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family and looked forward to her annual beach trips with her family. She especially enjoyed many trips with her sidekick, Abbie Grace. Her family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at Covenant Village for their loving care of Johnnie.
Survivors of Mrs. Flanagan include her daughters, Debbie Ormand, Janet Dimeo and husband Jeff; grandson, Latt Ormand and wife Tiffany; great grandchildren Abbie Grace, Owen and Charlie all of Gastonia; sisters, Peggy Beaver, Sue Scott and husband Ted; brother-in-law Cecil Frye and wife Barbara of Lake Wylie; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Carl Frye and husband of 2 years Ned Flanagan; sister, Mary Payseur; and son-in-law, Harry Ormand.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Southminster Presbyterian Church with Pastor Dan Oedy officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-1:00pm at the church. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Latt Ormand, Michael Knight, Danny Knight, John Kelly Welch, Tony James and Keith Rogers.
